Biografia

Juan A. Pérez was born in Carrión de los Céspedes (Sevilla) where he began his studies at a very early age at the local music school specialising in clarinet, perfecting his studies with Pepe Benítez and José Antonio López León. In 1998, he joined the Carrión de los Céspedes Music Band, becoming the youngest musician to join the band at the age of 8. In 2000, he entered the Cristóbal de Morales Conservatory of Music, becoming the youngest student in recent years and obtaining the second best mark in Andalusia. Later, he finished his clarinet studies with Juan Rivera and composition with Ramón Respaldo. During his time at the Francisco Guerrero Conservatory of Music, he was a member of the Francisco Guerrero Big Band, directed by Javier Ortí, an outstanding jazz musician and saxophone teacher. He held the position of director of the Banda de Música de Carrión de los Céspedes between 2011 and 2013, becoming the youngest director of the band in its more than 200 years of history. He has also participated in several Symphonic Bands in Seville and Huelva. Today, he is a member of the clarinet quartet “The Quartet Klarinett”.
