Sam Smith is an english singer- songwriter from London who was born in 1992. He broke through in 2012 when Disclosure released the single “Latch” on which Smith sung. A year later, he featured on Naughty Boy’s track “La la la” which was a number one in over 26 countries including the United Kingdom . In 2014, he released his first studio album entitled In the Lonely Hour through Capitol Records. The album’s lead single “Lay Me Down” was released not long after “Latch” but before “La la la”. However, it wasn’t until his second single “Money On My Mind” that he had another number one in the UK. His third single “Stay With Me” launched him internationally and was a huge success. In 2015, the singer received four Grammys: Best Pop Vocal Album, Record of the Year for In the Lonely Hour, Best New Artist and Song of the Year for “Stay With Me”. That same year, Smith re-released “Lay Me Down” and re-recorded it with John Legend for Comic Relief (British Charity). The re-release became a number one in the United Kingdom and a few months later, Disclosure released a song called “Omen” on which Smith featured once more. Towards the end of 2015, Smith released the theme song “Writing on the Wall” which he wrote for the James Bond movie Spectre for which he received a Golden Globe.
